It looks like the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order isn’t slated for this year, but for 2023.
Star Wars and video game fans have plenty to look forward to for the next few years. With the many games announced by the studios, they won’t have time to get bored… at least, when they are released. One of the most anticipated remains the sequel to Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by EA, and of which we have no news since its officialization. However, it seems that internally, things are moving quite a bit.
We learn today thanks to Jeff Grubb, and his podcast Grubbsnax, that the title was initially scheduled for the end of 2022. Unfortunately, EA has decided to postpone this release window to 2023. Players will therefore not have not the joy of seeing Cal and his gang again after his victory over Trilla and having fled from Darth Vader. This delayed release also has consequences for the platforms targeted by EA.
Indeed, according to the journalist, the studio will completely skip the old generation consoles, to focus on the current generation, namely the PS5 and the Xbox Series. If by 2023 more and more people will own these still much sought-after gems, this still limits the scope of the title, against an undeniable advantage: saving time. Not having to develop the optimization for 2 additional consoles means that the title will not be greatly delayed. He explains :
“It’s easier to disassociate yourself from those millions of PS4s and Xbox Ones around the world when you’re in 2023, and you’ll have several months where it’s going to be very easy to get an Xbox Series X, probably a few months before that. it is possible to get a PS5.”
The first images soon there?
Still according to the journalist, a formalization in pictures would be planned for the end of May, during the Star Wars Celebration event in the United States. In France, we will soon celebrate the international day dedicated to the franchise, on May 4th. At the moment, nothing more is known about the upcoming game, although the latest rumors claim that it will drop the name of Fallen Order (fallen order in French to designate the Jedi). However, this has yet to be confirmed by EA or Respawn.
