Surprise at Microsoft’s Surface event where the American giant not only unveiled its new Surface Pro X and Surface Laptop 3 tablets, but took everyone by surprise by unveiling Surface Neo and Surface Duo! These two products equipped with dual screens, but still in the prototype stage, are expected at the end of 2020.
Surface Neo: between laptop and tablet
The size of a book, Surface Neo offers a sleek metal design and a thickness of 5.6mm (for each screen) with a weight of 655g. Running Windows 10X, Microsoft’s OS for dual-screen devices, Surface Neo opens up to 360° to make room for two 9-inch LCD touchscreens. A stylus is also available and magnetized on the back of the device. But surprise, a small keyboard is also included, the latter is retractable (and removable?), is recognized by the screen of the device which allows you to place it where you want on the latter in order to take advantage, for example , a virtual trackpad, shortcuts or even being able to pass the content of the top screen to the bottom screen just above the keyboard. Surface Neo runs with an Intel processor, but we won’t be any more for the moment.
Surface Duo: Microsoft’s return to the phone market
If Surface Neo had more or less leaked with the conference, Surface Duo is the real surprise. This smartphone, very similar to Surface Neo, is also equipped with two screens opening up to 360°, but this time with a size of 5.6 inches. Running on Android (with Google Play, Gmail, etc.) and integrating Microsoft software (Office, Skype, etc.), this smartphone runs on a Snapdragon 855 processor and can interact with its big sister Surface Neo. The design is sleek, everything seems quite thin and ergonomic.
