After Loki, Tom Hiddleston lands on Apple TV+

After Loki, Tom Hiddleston lands on Apple TV+

The MCU star lands on the SVOD platform, with a series adapted from the book The White Darkness.

Definitely, Apple TV+ is pulling out all the stops for its catalog. After having recruited Tom Holland, Taron Egerton or Leonardo DiCaprio, the platform is now calling on Tom Hiddleston for his new project. The Cupertino company will adapt the book The White Darknesscentered on the life of a British officer named Henry Worsley.

Written by David Grann, The White Darkness tells the true story of this man devoured by his ideal. A soldier fascinated by the example of Ernest Shackleton and his polar expeditions, this eccentric succeeded in what Shackleton had failed a century earlier: connecting one end of the continent to the other on foot.

Once retired, he tries to go even further by crossing Antarctica alone, without assistance. He finally gives up near the goal, in such a state of health that he dies a few days after his rescue.

Tom Hiddleston should thus play the main character of this new series. For now, we do not yet know who Apple TV + has recruited to face him. However, we have more information on those who will be on the other side of the camera.

The screenwriter of Black Swan conquers Antarctica

To write and direct this new series, the platform is going heavy. Pachinko’s creator, Soo Hugh, will be in charge. At his side, we will find the creator of Strange Angel and screenwriter black swan : Mark Heyman.

The series has not yet found its director, but after all the project seems to be at a preliminary stage. Apple TV+ will no doubt give us more details when the time comes. Unsurprisingly, it does not yet have a release date.

Second foray into the apple for Tom Hiddleston

This is not the first time that the actor has made a turn on the side of Apple TV +. It will soon be on view at The Essex Serpent, fantasy drama developed by Anna Symon. Adapted from the book by Sarah Perry, the series tells the story of Cora, a Londoner who leaves her abusive husband to settle in the village of Aldwinter in Essex.

She discovers that there is a local superstition about a mystical creature called the Essex Serpent. He is obviously back in the area. The series is due out on May 13 on our screens. Enough to offer fans of the actor a new dose of Tom Hiddleston, before his long-awaited return in the skin of Loki on Disney+.

After a successful first burst of episodes, the Marvel-stamped series was offered a second season. For now, we still do not know when it will be released. Things shouldn’t take too long, however, since filming will be launched this summer in England.
